This evening's performance is the reflection of a long-term multidisciplinary collaboration, reconciling the potentials of the visual and
performing arts. Our collaboration both reinforces and transcends the traditions and ideals of our respected disciplines.

While music informs and inspires motion, the visual arts can offer a tangible manifestation of abstract concepts.  Our performance features a
series of drawings constructed on-stage, inspired by the artist's interpretation and mimicry of the musician's movement, breathing, and
inflection. The motion created by the playing of music directly informs the drawing: the drawing becomes a visualization of sound and
movement, and the artist serves as the conduit between sound and image.

In collaborating across disciplines, we are working beyond prescribed boundaries by bringing a performative aspect to the visual arts, and
considering music from a visual perspective. The forged synesthetic relationship between sound, kinetics, and visuals creates an alternative
way of experiencing familiar media. We have extracted visual art from the confines of a gallery setting, and offer our audience a fresh,
updated relationship with classical music. In doing so, we aim to create an entirely new artistic experience, increasing the accessibility and
limitless potential of both the visual and performing arts.

The original drawings born from our collaboration have been compiled to make five corresponding paintings, inspiring the choreography and
set design for a new original modern dance piece by choreographer KT Huckabee- to be performed at Penn State Altoona on April 28 and
29, 2011 at 7:30 pm in the Misciagna Family Center.
